suggested, and the cost of the product is $49.00."

Two programs I have used for reading TIFF (Tagged Image File Format,
extension *.tif) files are the picture viewers
"ACDSee" by ACD Systems (http://www.acdsystems.com/) and
"CompuPic" by Photodex (http://www.photodex.com/).

They are both in the same $50 price range, with higher end versions
also available.  They will manage all popular binary image file formats
such as JPEG, GIF, TIFF, etc., in thumbnail, full screen, and slide
show views and they are very handy for managing photos on disk.

Both products have free demos on their sites for downloading.
