B.A.B. Organ Company and Dominick Brugnolotti
By Matthew Caulfield

In my posting to the 05.07.28 MMD about Dominick Brugnolotti and the
B.A.B. Organ Company, his grandson Ed Radonic is quoted as remembering
a certain "band organ" in his grandfather's shop:

> I remember a large band organ which had a stained glass depiction of
> Mount Vesuvius erupting with the sparks flying up and dropping into
> the sea. The motion was created by a light-wheel behind the glass that
> turned when the band organ played. It played the overture from Faust.

Frank and Shirley Nix, of Woodland Hills, Calif., tell me that they now
own that very machine. Apparently it was not exactly a band organ but
had been rigged up by B.A.B. to play their rolls. Shirley Nix writes:

"It had been fitted to demonstrate B.A.B. rolls, but that mechanism has
been removed and the machine is now back to its Imhof & Mukle format.
We had it restored, and it plays up a storm."

More history coming to light, thanks to the Internet and MMD.
