Alternative to Hide Glue in Player Pianos

I am not 100% sold on hide glue: bad smell, forms sharp edges inside
pneumatics doesn't always stick. I usually glue on cloth using
"Aileen's Tacky Glue" from the fabric store. It's thick and goopy,
so it doesn't run, makes no hard edges, and can be easily removed later
by laying it against dampened felt or paper towels.

But -- hide glue is still the only thing that I know of to use to glue
pneumatics to decks, because it can be removed later by heating. Does
your product lend itself to this application? If not, do you know of
one which does, which will, with heat, allow later removal without
tearing everything up?

Thanks!
