Seek Piano Keyboard to MIDI Interface
By Randolph Herr

Hi gang: Does anyone out there know if a grand Steinway player can be
wired up so that it records MIDI data, yet still work as a pneumatic
player? I have a friend who would like me to put sensors in his piano
so that if it is either hand played or roll played, a MIDI file can be
created.

The pneumatic player works by pushing the back of the keys up, so
these sensors will have to be attached to the keys since he wants to
record files even if a human is pushing down on the front of the keys.
I assume that little microswitches can be put under the fronts of
the keys, and that way it will record on-off data but won't record
expression. Furthermore, I do not even know if it is practical to
install something like this. All advice will be welcome.
