QRS "Virtuoso Violin" Player Violin
By Jim Neher

We are indebted to those making the video of the violin that they
provide many close-up segments of violin playing. Examined carefully,
they reveal the challenge of synchronizing the bow action with the
oscillator action. Occasionally the instrument makes a scratchy sound
with very little resonance, and at other times you get a glimpse of
the pure sine wave.

Since you can't "record and play back" actual human violin playing,
this just goes to illustrate the massive effort required to mimic in
a machine what is natural to a human. The same problem faced both
the Mills company, and the reproducing piano makers who edited the
performances to fit the quirks of their playback systems.
