I just acquired a Wurlitzer brass trumpet organ in a handsome dark
tiger oak case.  It is in surprisingly good condition and seems most
certainly to be the original finish.  Sadly, it's been stored in
a damp place for some time and there are blotches of mildew on the
inside and outside.  Has anyone confronted a similar circumstance?
What is the best way to kill the mildew and prevent it from spreading
and remove or minimize the stains without damaging the finish?

The brass trumpets are dirty, like the entire organ, but are not
pitted or corroded.  They are still shiny but appear rather dark as
if tarnished.  How should they be cleaned and polished?  I wonder if
they have a coat of lacquer that would be offended by modern brass
cleaners.  What would Grandma have used?  Baking soda and vinegar,
or ???
