Hi All,  My player piano project is almost complete
(installing a Baldwin player action in a plain old upright piano).
Mechanically, it's worked out quite well.  Even though the stack
is not rebuilt yet, I heard it play today.  I'm very pleased.
Not bad at all for a retrofit.

Now it's down to the case, and I realize I have not had much
experience in this area.  What I would like to do is cut an oval
opening in the front panel for the spoolbox doors, rather than
the square opening.

After studying the situation, this looks very difficult, and not
something I would want to do unless I knew the procedure exactly.
The old Foster upright I once had appeared to have the opening cut
out with a router with a step bit.  That much I understand, however,
I also know that some sort of pattern had to be used, as there is
no way to cut this type of shape free hand -- there would have to
be some sort of guide constructed.  I also have some old junk panels
to practice on before I tackle the actual item.

Any advice on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated.
