Mechanical Music in the Movies
By Hank Walters

Buster Keaton's last silent film, "The Love Nest", produced in 1923,
was re-issued later with a sound track featuring a Fotoplayer operated
by Robert Israel. The recording is excellent, and includes many of the
sound effects produced by the Fotoplayer.

The story is about Buster's adventures on a whaling ship of the same
name and includes some excellent period footage of target practice by
U.S. Navy battleships (Buster was the target, of course.)

The copy I have seen was copyrighted 1995 by the Film Preservation
Associates, and should still be available on the internet.
