CD "Best of Ampico Classics"
By John Del Carlo

I thought the MMD readers would find this interesting. I came across
this web site about the Ampico. The demonstration tracks sound very
good. Has anyone heard the CD yet or know about this group?

[ The album cover says "virtually replaying with new technologies."

 [ (translated):
 [
[ The major interest of the work of Pascal Marcelin is to get
[ closest to what listeners of the era could have heard then, from
[ the punched rolls recorded in the first third of the 20th century.
[ His mastery of data processing techniques has permitted him to
[ reconstitute, using the computer, the sound of the piano and to
[ resuscitate the playing of virtuosos of this grand period, with the
[ quality of a modern instrument and recording. The result is indeed
 [ surprising.
