Finding a Piano Tuner
By Duaine Hechler

The PTG (Piano Technicians Guild) website, normally lists only Reg-
istered Piano Technicians (RPT) but there are other members that are
Associates. The Associates are considered "non-trained" technicians
because they have not gone through and passed the RPT exams.

However, I for one am an Associate and consider myself trained (by an
RPT mentor), because the RPT exams are geared to the non-specialized
technicians, i.e. those who are not rebuilders or who do not specialize
in player piano work, etc. There are many Associates out there who are
player technicians and will not be listed on the PTG website.

And, as said before, many techs do not work on players, not even to
tune them.
