I am certainly not an expert, but I stored a grand on its side for
nearly a year, and I don't think it was hurt by that.  In fact, believe
it or not, it was not even hurt when it fell over in the 1984 earth-
quake here (Morgan Hill, California).  It made one hell of a racket,
and dented the stack box underneath, but was otherwise unharmed!
