Cleaning the Tracker Bar with a Vacuum Cleaner
By John A. Tuttle

Just a quick explanation here. No matter how small the hole is at the
end of a vacuum cleaner hose, it does not develop any more inches of
water vacuum than it is already producing. However, it is true that
focusing that vacuum on a specific point will apply the full vacuum to
that point.

That said, the standard tracker bar pump is capable of producing about
three times as much vacuum as a normal vacuum cleaner. Unfortunately,
most people don't use the device correctly. To read about what I've
termed "The Kissing Technique," go to:

By the way, make sure that the leather seal inside the pump is lightly
lubricated with Vaseline or other petroleum jelly. Also, the rubber
tip must be soft, so that it conforms to the tracker bar.
