Mechanical Music in Central Europe
By Mike Knudsen

Hello everyone. Thanks to advice generously given on the MMD, I have
seen two great museums in Berlin (Musical Instruments and Technical).
I talked with an organ grinder in Berlin (a Raffin 20er) but with just
a puppet monkey, like mine.

Unfortunately, in Dresden the Zwinger collection of technical wonders
is under reconstruction and not viewable until 2010.

I did see the Meissen porcelain carillon built around a window outside,
I hope that was the one referred to. We were short on time and did not
do the porcelain museum. The city itself is worth a visit, all rebuilt
and thrilling to see.

Oh yes, Utrecht -- a lovely city, plus the museum lived up to its billing.

Thanks again,
Mike Knudsen
