I am hoping that some kind MMDer will be able to help me out of an
awful situation.  I built a 44-note, wooden pipe, hand-played organ,
lovingly named "Searliola".  Everything is done but getting wind into
the beast.

I had designed the organ to use the smallest Ventola blower, which
I used to get for $200 up to six years ago.  Now the Ventola costs
$1000 plus crating and shipping,

I foolishly bought a PPCo blower which was supposed to be silent,
furnishing cool wind at 10 inches water gage pressure.  When I switched
it on there was a flash and the speed control burnt out.

After five minutes operation the wind temperature runs 87 degrees,
and when I took it to the physics lab at the university I found it is
emitting 96 decibels of horrendous noise.

It is nothing like the PPCo blower described in Craig Brougher's
masterpiece on organ building.  There is no evidence of any felt maze
to silence the motor noise.  There is a large hole in the top sucking
in air and sending it directly to the output nozzle.  And it cost $350
plus $150 shipping to Japan.

Has anyone had experience with one of these PPCo blowers?  It would be
fine if located ten miles away, but it must reside in the case.  And
I need to make some kind of reservoir, Schwimmer type, which must also
fit in the case.

I'll be everlastingly grateful if anyone can give me some advice
(other than sending it to a landfill and biting the bullet and going
to Laukhuff!)
