Christmas Music by Aeolian Player Pipe Organ
By Bob Taylor

In keeping with the holiday season, I have just put nine new
selections on my pipe organ web site. The site is accessed by
going to

  http://web.me.com/bobtaylor5/aeolian/Podcast_2/Podcast_2.html

To see all nine selections at once, click on the "Archive" button
at the bottom of the page.

I have featured performances of Archer Gibson and Edwin H. Lemare.
While these artists' careers are widely different, they both hold
very important parts to American and British organ culture. Lemare
gave us the tune "Moonlight and Roses" which he sold for about one
dollar while still residing in the UK. Gibson was the first organist
to earn a million dollars, catering to the wealthy patrons of Aeolian.

More importantly, both of these men have left their mark. Gibson
was influential in standardizing organ console design and Lemare
compositions are now being recognized as important early 20th century
work. And the most amazing thing is that now the whole world can hear
how these artists played in the 1920's with just a click or two of
a computer button.

Happy holidays to all!
Bob Taylor
