Hervé Hubert from France asked in MMD 090318 about the meaning of some
numbers he found in his tympanon and whether these numbers are related
to the dimensions of the strings he has to use.  I can not answer this
question directly but if it would help Hervé to find out the correct
dimensions, I suggest to go to my posting back in 2002 --

and compare the scale and all the other data of my tympanon with his
instrument.  Then Hervé could contact me and I will give him the exact
dimensions of the string for each note of my instrument.  Although my
instrument was built in Greece, I know that the Greek instrument makers
of tympanons came from Italy and brought the basics of the tympanon
techniques with them.
