Paper Roll vs. Computer Disk Player Pianos
By Tom Hutchinson

Hi MMD, In his posting of 09.09.10 Steve Marx asks or suggests that
there is a scarcity of paper rolls. I would like to point out that
I don't see this at all. For instance on eBay yesterday, 10 Sep. 2009,
there were over 900 listings for piano rolls (search for 'piano rolls').
Many of these listings contained multiple rolls.

It is a given that what you see on eBay is just the tip of the iceberg
of the total supply of piano rolls. I personally try to maintain from
40-60 listings at all times with a wide variety of roll types, including
"O" rolls, Thematic, Duo-Art, Ampico and regular 88-note, all guaranteed
to play. Perhaps roll availability in Australia is a problem, but not
in the US.

Regards, Tom Hutchinson
