Duo-Art Grand Piano Action is Feather Light
By Bruce Grimes

David Snyder's action work is absolutely traditional Steinway/Aeolian,
a fact worth noting for the traditionalist. He does not go about fixing
or changing what Steinway did. In fact, when I went about lengthening
two Steinways (one from 7' to 7'6", and the other from 9' to 9'6") in
order to install a Duo-Art, each time Steinway recommended that David
Snyder do the work as he is the only one in the world able to do the
job right.

I do not think there very many instances since the 1930s where a piano
has been lengthened. With each one we did, the entire action was built
from scratch. I don't know for sure if David actually is the only one
who has done this, but I do know he can do it right. Our next project
will be to lengthen a Bösendorfer Imperial grand.
