The notion of player pianos and nickelodeons existing in the
"Old West" is a major problem for me.  Nine times out of ten when
I ask visitors, young and old, if they have ever seen a player piano
before, they answer, "Only in the cowboy movies about the Old West."

I like old movies and watch a lot and I have _never_ seen a player
piano in an old Western movie.

Why do people always say this?  What started this myth?
