MMD Site Search Using Google
By Jody Kravitz

In yesterday's Digest, Bill Burns suggested trying the ad-supported
Google Custom Search on the MMD website. I have implemented this
as an experiment.

For now, the "search" is offered near the bottom of most MMD website
pages as a light-green area labelled:

"Enter text below to search the MMD Website with Google"

To use it, type in a search string into the light-green highlighted
text box and click the "search" button. The first few "hits" will be
Google ads. They are clearly marked as such. Clicking on a search
result will open a new window, so you can go back to the search
results easily.

One thing I've noticed is that the website's keyword index often ends up
in the results. I find those results distracting. You can suppress those
by adding "-kwic" to your search.

We'd like your feedback on this search feature. --Jody
