Reproducing Fair Organ Animated Figures
By Lawrence McGowan

Hello Mechanical Music Digest! I am embarking on a task of
re-creating a band organ orchestra of band organ figures in the
same way as Gavioli did adorn his band organs with bell tappers
and a conductor figure.

I do have access to a wood duplicator, but the task is _very_ time
consuming and tedious, plus the fact is I wish to create 24 moving
statues, 36 inches tall, to complete my orchestra. Some people
suggest fiberglass. Some people suggested a mental institution!
I really don't know where to begin.

I am building an organ that has a playing 2-manual console, plus a
25-bass note board. A bass drum and cymbal run off the bass pedals,
and the snare runs off the lower manual. My organ would be chromatic,
but could play MIDI files of all carousel music. In addition, I have
installed a duplex roll system to play Wurlitzer style 165 rolls.
I have all the necessary items to build the box, reservoir, pipes,
blower, roll system, and even the carver for the façade!

How do I create the orchestra of my dreams? Thanks very much!

Lawrence McGowan
