Regarding Johnson's baby powder, according to the package it contains
only talc and fragrance.  Talc is a dry lubricant.  That's why it
prevents chafing, as a body powder.  Billiard players use it on the
hand so the cue slides smoothly.  If you spill some talc on a concrete
floor, it becomes dangerously slick.  (I learned that lesson!)  As a
dry lubricant it is excellent for reducing sticking and friction.

I use Johnson's because it is pure talc and easy to apply, but don't
inhale it.  It doesn't attract insects or gum up like corn starch or
blends.  I use it on re-covered pallets and gaskets in reed organs to
prevent sticking.
