I would like to publicly thank everyone who responded to my question
about Duo-Art roll tracking during play [160524 MMDigest].  Several
people wrote to me directly and I think I have thanked them, but
others wrote to the Digest.

I typically work very slowly and deliberately so I have tried only the
first suggestion of most respondents.  When I inserted two or three
rolls, the ears at both sides of the roll were pushed by the paper to
open both valves.  I have adjusted the ears to just barely touch the
paper and am going to try that for a while.  Of course the fourth or
fifth roll I tried was narrower so that it did not touch either ear,
but I will still try this setting for a while.  So far it seems better.
