Unknown Fittings on Standard Action Pump
By John Neiswinger

Hello All: I just finished rebuilding a single-valve Standard
player action. There are two devices on the right side of the pump
just under the motor tempo speed control that I have no idea what
they are for. One is a 1/2-inch elbow fitted directly into the trunk.
The other is a valve that supplied vacuum through a 3/8-inch fitting.
I have no idea what they were for.

The only pneumatic device down there is the sustain which is feed from
a fitting on the left of the trunk. The soft bass and soft treble is
controlled mechanically through the pushrods; everything is accounted
for, I believe. I've attached a photo -- anyone have any ideas?
