Matthew's concerns are far broader than amusement parks.  We are
losing our senior respected members at an alarming rate; four are
recognized in next issue of our AMICA Bulletin.  Diminishing
participation is affecting all our associations and societies.  The
time is fast approaching that simple survival will provoke positive
action to keep our special interests alive and well.

In 1949 a group of committed enthusiasts got together and formed MBSI.
In 1963 a group from within formed AMICA to embrace a wider array of
mechanical musical instruments.  In the late 1990s the COAA emerged
dedicated to the preservation of carousel organs.  And so it goes.
While each group tended to focus on a special type of mechanical
musical instrument, the consequence has been to thin out our respective
ranks.

The reality is that, each in our own way, we are all equally dedicated
to the preservation of a unique slice of our musical heritage.  Many of
us are members of all these associations.  Perhaps time is nearing for
some serious consideration to find ways for mutual cooperation,
togetherness and survival.  Thoughts of others?
