Clock Oil and Mysteries of WD-40 Oil
By Karl Schroder

[ Ref. Mark Kinsler in 190719 MMD --

After almost forty years in the mechanical clock trade, twenty as a
clock repair man and sixteen years as a clockmaker and still going,
I can say with absolute certainty that WD-40 will eventually stop
a clock dead.

WD-40 is a miracle worker on most mechanical movements, but the miracle
is short-lived and later comes the expensive process of cleaning the
junk off to get the clock going again.

As far as cleaning mechanical movements with carburetor cleaner --
I don't even know what to say to that one!

Gruß,
Karl Schröder
