Hi Jack,  please, if you will send photos of your instrument,
I could give you directions.  I can tell you that I have never
seen a 44-note Piano Melodico; it is not present even in the
original catalogs I have.  Piano Melodico is [manufactured as]
a 30-note, 48-note and 73-note.
