I was among the early roll scanning pioneers.  At the time our
production was MIDI Type 1 files suitable for pianos equipped with
solenoids, such as Pianocorder, Pianomation, Disklavier, etc.  It
was much later that the software in use was modified to also produce
e-rolls, another form of MIDI data aimed at playing pneumatic player
pianos equipped with e-valves.  The MIDI Type 1 files on my web site
will not work, with dynamics, on pianos equipped with e-valves.

Three years ago, I made all my original CIS scan files freely available,
ever hopeful that somebody out there would re-process them to produce
e-rolls. Those original scan files can still be acquired by clicking on

It's a very large file, of some 5+ gigabytes.

It should be noted that my CIS files produce MIDI files that provide
reasonably satisfying playback on a solenoid equipped piano.  Because
my roll scanner was an early primitive design, the CIS files are
considered not accurate enough for quality recuts.  Of course, I am ever
hopeful that somebody will re-process these files not only for e-rolls,
but also by some software miracle, their quality can be elevated.
