Decap 92-key "Luxor" in Sanfilippo Collection
By Christian Tedesco

Hello all, There is a rather odd Gebroeders Decap Antwerpen
organ in the Sanfilippo Collection. Named "Luxor", it runs off
of the 92-key scale. Both the façade and instrumentation are
special.

First off, there is no percussion visible. This is typical for
early Decaps, and it is generally mounted to the side of the case
opposite of the key frame. I know the Decap in the Hack collection
with the same arrangement has tympani beaters on the big drum
instead of a tom-tom; this one may as well.

Second, there is a xylophone in the middle above the name plate.
I don't know technical specifics of the Decap 92-key model, but a
xylophone is not typically present. Only one other has this: "de
Retro", made much later. Another thing to note is that there are
two accordions; generally the older style facades have only one.

I do not know specifics, but I would not be surprised if this organ
has a reed box saxophone. In addition, I would also not be surprised
if this organ has extra pipework or percussion, given that there
are other expansions already present, like the xylophone and two
accordions.

This is a early model organ, so it has (or had) feeder bellows as
opposed to the blowers typical to Decap organs. I am not quite sure
how feeders could provide for multiple accordions and possible extra
pipework. I'd imagine they would probably need at least a triple set
of bellows.

Combine all of these features and you have a very special and unique
organ! Of course if you know anything I don't, email me!
