Regarding John Daly's request: John, if you will remove the bad reed, and note what note it is, and use a pencil and draw around it, and sketch in the aproximate size of the reed, and send it to me, I will sort through a collection of old reeds and see if I can find you a substitute.

It _is_ possible to make your own reeds, by removing the rivets and putting in a new reed and filing it into tune. This is a monumental job for the novice, and if you can find a substitute it will be much easier.

Several years ago, I heard of a fellow named White, who lived in Brattle- borough, Vermont, who would make up reeds to your sample. I had one done by him, but I had to voice it myself as it was far too loud.
