Idle Instruments
By David Schroth Jr.

Hello All, I was recently at a famous general store in Moultonborough,
New Hampshire, and to my surprise there was not only a coin operated
player piano, but also a player guitar, which fascinated me.

Unfortunately, as I have found out for many years and as I saw myself,
the instruments have been out of order for many years. I am not sure
what the problem is. They may be broken, or perhaps the owners got
"sick of hearing them" as I have unfortunately come across in other
places. It doesn't seem as though the store was in such dire need
of funds that maintenance couldn't be performed, but maybe I am wrong.

Anyway, I hope that more places will value their instruments. The
future of this community depends on the younger generations, and if
the perception of the younger generations is that these instruments are
merely old things sitting useless in the corner, what is to become of
the hobby?

Sincerely,
David Schroth, Jr.
