Paper Roll Label Adhesive
By Philip Jamison

I would suggest an archival paste for gluing on roll labels. This
paste is removable (using water or steam), non-acidic and will not
yellow like rubber cement. It's the same glue used by paper and
print restorers and can be obtained at most art supply stores or on
the Internet. Made from potato starch, I think. It will not work
on the new, waxed papers, however.
