Christofer Noering posted a link to a very interesting article
concerning an abandoned New York mansion.  Among the pictures is what
is called an "Aeolienne".  The purpose of an Aeolienne is to play an
Aeolian player organ, but to make all stop changes manually.

The Aeolienne pictured appears to be missing the two center banks of
stops.  If that is the case, the organ controlled by this Aeolienne
was large, with more than 75 ranks of pipes.

I cannot tell from the picture if the roll is the 116-note or the fully
automatic 176-note roll, which the later Aeoliennes could accommodate
but which ignored the stop codes.

Here is the Aeolienne roll player from Aeolian Opus 1356.  This
controlled about 77 ranks which was sold for scrap.
