Unknown Ampico Roll Recut by Ray Siou
from James Weisenborne
•I recently found in my collection a Ray Siou recut Ampico multi-tune roll which had a white piece of tape with the number "#62" affixed to the box. Unfortunately Ray never mailed me a label for either the roll or the roll box, so I cannot identify the four tunes: a waltz and three foxtrots. Any hel...

Howdie from Connecticut - While helping my parents record some of their old 33 1/3 albums to cassette tapes this weekend, I ran into an LP album that I forgot they had: "Nickel Music - The Sounds of the Nickelodeons at Paul Eakins' Gay Nineties Village". I remember them getting it in the late '60s, ...

Transferring Old Audio Recordings to CD
from Albert de Boer
•Hi Everyone, This is another input for converting old records or audio tapes to WAV or MP3 files. I bought a very good turntable from BSW http://bswusa.com/ for purpose of converting my collection (hoard) of 78, 45 and 33-1/3 rpm records to WAV files as soon as I had found software to do so. BSW of...

58-note Rolls for Aeolian Concertola?
from Stuart McCaskill
•I recently acquired a batch of Aeolian 58-note rolls that have very curious long, slowly tapered leaders with unusual tabs. They do not bear the usual Aeolian Grand labels, but appear to be factory cut. They play magnificently on a Style W Orchestrelle. The orchestration is wonderful. The prior own...

Cipher In Hofbauer 20er Crank-organ
from Harald M. Mueller
•> My 20-note Hofbauer always plays one note even when the tracker bar > is taped over. Did you regulate the valve correctly? If the valve screw is completely shut (screwed in), then the note may play even with a taped-over tracker bar hole (as no air can go below the membrane and lift it to close t...

Re: Reproducer Rolls on Footpumpers
from Rob DeLand
Robin, BOTH of course!! (Wisenheimer...) BTW, I just use regular old green Scotch tape, which comes off very cleanly every time. I clean my tracker bar regularly with Never-Dull, maybe that keeps the tape from sticking too much. The tape gets put on/taken off a half dozen times per week, until after...
